Station Masters have been upgraded from Level 5 to Level 6, and MCMs have been brought at par with JEs, but their responsibilities are minimal. Now, MCMs will even appear for AEE exams.
Meanwhile, JE/SSEs are responsible 24/7, classified as excluded category, but receive no extra allowances. Section Controllers and other controllers receive allowances, drivers get extra pay for running Rajdhani trains, and many others receive risk allowances.
There are numerous works going on in the field, tenders are being floated, Amrit Bharat projects are underway, and an SSE oversees works worth crores, but receives no allowances.
Why do nurses get nursing allowances? Their job requires nursing, similarly, drivers get extra pay for driving trains. If others can demand extra allowances, so can we. We deserve higher pay scales, timely promotions, and extra allowances for tender work.
A Technician starts at Level 2 and reaches Level 6, getting four promotions. But for JE/SSEs, there's only one promotion from Level 6 to Level 7, and that too after a long wait.
ALPs start at Level 2 and reach Level 7, and are even eligible for ADEE/ADME promotions. But JE/SSEs face a different story. Their seniority is counted from the time they join, so why not Level 6 seniority?
The disparity in salaries between drivers and JE/SSEs is stark. Drivers get more salary and perks, while JE/SSEs struggle. Even AC pass facilities were initially denied to JE/SSEs.
The technical cadre feels undervalued and overworked. They handle both technical and non-technical work, while non-technical staff only handle administrative tasks.
The demand is for fair treatment, higher pay scales, and allowances commensurate with their responsibilities and qualifications.
